A Tree does not move unless there is wind..

Seven Trees. Cheshire 2002
Four Trees. Flagstaff, California 2004
Urban Sprawl 15F. Roujon, France 2003

I had a client this week interested in a series of 'Tree' Images and so had to enter the Doyle archives to see what would be suitable. I had forgotten just how many images of Trees I had actually made, but the main bulk of twiggy pics was from my Urban Sprawl series. Whether sprouting up through the concrete, or strangely lit on a hillside, the tree in all its humbleness was the driving force behind the project. The Urban Sprawl series, which strictly speaking is still ongoing, is amongst my favorites not only for the images themselves, but also for the actual process of shooting. There is always a strange uplifting joy of walking through a concrete jungle and stumbling upon something organic. If you don't know what I am talking about just think of how much nicer those streets are with trees, rather than those without. Trees are also one of the few things in life you don't have to ask permission to photograph, and its always nice not having to ask..
